Issue

After installing GoLive CS2, the menus have disappeared from my site. The menus work if the page is viewed in a browser but not in GoLive.

Solution

1. Make sure your copy of GoLive CS2 has been updated to 8.0.1.

Open the About GoLive window to see the version number. If it is 8.0.0, you need to apply the updater. You can use the Help > Updates menu in GoLive or download the updater here:

Windows:

2. Were the menus created with MenuMachine 1 or MenuMachine2?

If they were created with MenuMachine 1, you need install MenuMachine 1 into GoLive CS2.

MenuMachine 1 Download page:
http://www.menumachine.com/mm1/download.php

3. If the menus were created with MenuMachine 2 make sure that MenuMachine 2 is installed into GoLive CS2.

The CS2 installer does not replace the GoLive CS folder, so you need to install MenuMachine 2 into GoLive CS2 to be able to use it when you launch that copy of GoLive.

MenuMachine 2 Download page:

4. How are you opening the the site in GoLive CS2?:

a. double clicking on a page to launch GoLive CS2?
b. double clicking on a .site file to launch GoLive CS2?
c. using the GoLive Welcome Screen "Open Document" button?
d. Using File > Open to locate the .site file?

It is important that the MenuMachine splash screen has disappeared before you open page containing a menu. Methods a, b and c above will open a page or site before MenuMachine has finished loading and the menus may not be recognized. Use method d. to open sites.

5. Had you changed the MenuMachine 2 folder name preference in GoLive CS?

If so, you need to set the same preference in GoLive CS2.

6. Is MenuMachine 2 recognizing that the site is open?

Is the MenuMachine 2 Objects Palette showing the correct site name at the top of the palette next to "Active site is [sitename]"?

7. Are the site and the MenuMachine 2 Objects Palette refreshed?

Have you refreshed the site using the Refresh View button in the GoLive toolbar?
Does pressing the Refresh button in the MenuMachine 2 Objects Palette make the menu appear in the list?

8. Can you see the menumachine folder?

Can you see the menumachine folder in the left pane of the site window? Is it at the root (top) level of the site or is it inside another folder?
