MenuMachine 2 menus use custom tags (just like GoLive Actions and Components) in order to allow editing inside GoLive.
HTML Validators will will flag MenuMachine's custom tags and GoLive's Template, Component and Grid tags as errors.
Use the GoLive preferences to "Strip GoLive Elements" when uploading pages to the web server.
The <menumachine> tags around your menu are flagged by HMTL validators as invalid. GoLive Action tags such as <csobj> and <csaction> will also be flagged by validators. These custom tags are used only when editing in GoLive and are not required when the pages are on the server. If you want the page to validate, then you can tell GoLive to automatically strip these tags when you upload your pages.
GoLive allows you to easily strip MenuMachine's custom tags and GoLives special tags during upload so that the pages validate perfectly when they are online. This does not affect your local copy of the pages - only the copy which is sent to the server is changed.
To do this, open the GoLive preferences and in the Site > Upload/Export section, check the box marked "Strip HTML Code For: Adobe GoLive Elements" and click OK.
If you have site-specific settings then you may also need to check the Upload/Export section of the Site settings to ensure the change has been applied to your current site.
Now when you next upload using GoLive, the custom tags will be stripped during the upload process and the pages which are on the server will now validate (providing there are no errors in the page).
Note: We highly recommend ensuring that your local copy of the files retains the custom tags, otherwise the menu will become uneditable. Using the Strip Elements feature as described above will not affect your local copy of the files or your ability to edit menus.
If you download pages that have had the tags stripped, you will no longer be able to edit Templates, Components, Actions, Grids and/or Menumachine menus on the pages in Layout view in the same way you did before the tags were stripped. Similarly, if you Export the site and create a new site, the tags will be gone.
For this reason it is important to keep your local files with the GoLive tags in place.
