Category: Installation

Issue

When the MenuMachine 2 installer runs, it refuses to install MenuMachine and displays a dialog that says:
Could not locate GoLive application. You must install GoLive CS or GoLive CS2 before installing MenuMachine.

Solution

The MenuMachine 2 installer asks Mac OS X for the location of the GoLive application. In certain circumstances the information returned by Mac OS X may cause the error above to appear.

The error will appear in the following circumstances:

  1. a copy of GoLive CS or GoLive CS2 could not be found because it is genuinely not installed
  2. there are two copies of the same version of GoLive installed, which could happen if you have, for instance, duplicated the GoLive application folder. You must delete one of the copies for the MenuMachine installation to proceed.
  3. there is a problem with the LaunchServices database which Mac OS X uses to track installed applications. The easiest fix for this issue is to re-install GoLive.
