Issue

When a menu is saved, GoLive displays a dialog with a progress bar that takes a very long time to disappear. GoLive may then display a message about "Scanning Objects" which also takes a long time to disappear.

Solution

GoLive CS2 8.0 has a problem which causes these symptom when the Refresh command in GoLive is used if GoLive has the "Refresh View Automatically" preference enabled.

Similar symptoms may occur if you click the Refresh button in the GoLive toolbar or use the Refresh All command in the Site > Update menu.

When you save a menu, MenuMachine asks GoLive to refresh the site window in order to make the newly saved MenuMachine files appear. The refresh function in GoLive then triggers the issue.

To fix the problem, please try these steps, in order:

  1. upgrade GoLive to version 8.0.1:
  2. GoLive 8.01 update for Windows
    GoLive 8.01 update for Mac
  3. open the GoLive preferences and in the "Site" section, make sure that the option to "Refresh View Automatically" is disabled.
  4. delete your GoLive preferences file: Article 000056
  5. re-import your site to create a new .site file: Article 000133
