The text in menu items does not have anti-aliasing (font smoothing) applied to it when the menu is viewed in Internet Explorer 7 (final). The text on the rest of the page looks correct.
This is due to a change that Microsoft made at the last minute to the Cleartype technology in Internet Explorer 7 which smooths text for screen display. Due to problems in their code they have disabled anti-aliasing (font smoothing) when CSS filters are applied to HTML elements.
This Microsoft blog entry from one of the Internet Explorer 7 developers explains the issue in more detail.
The current implementation of MenuMachine uses CSS filters to provide variable opacity support in Internet Explorer which means that MenuMachine 2 menus are affected by this issue.
An update to MenuMachine and/or Internet Explorer will be required to correct this problem. We currently have a beta version of MenuMachine available which addresses this issue for menus that are use 100% opacity, please contact us to request it.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
