Issue

A site with existing menus is opened but the menus do not appear in the MenuMachine palette. The menus work in the browser but cannot be edited. The palette displays the message "No menus defined in this site".

Solution

MenuMachine stores its menu definitions in the menumachine folder which is located by default at the root (top level) of your GoLive site. (see Article 000131).

If this folder is renamed or moved, MenuMachine will not be able to find your menus. Once the menumachine folder has been moved back to its default location or renamed to its default name, clicking refresh in the MenuMachine palette should make the menus appear.*

If the menumachine folder is in the top level of your GoLive site, has not been moved or renamed and yet the menus do not appear, it's possible that you have modified the MenuMachine preferences to specify a custom site root folder. This setting is NOT recommended and is only provided so that users who cannot use a GoLive site file for some reason are able to edit menus. If you are using a GoLive site file to edit your web site, this setting should be disabled.

You can check the Custom Site Root setting by opening the MenuMachine preferences dialog from the MenuMachine > Preferences... menu in GoLive. Click the Advanced tab and make sure that the "Use Custom Site Root" option is unchecked.

Once you close the MenuMachine preferences, you should click the Refresh button in the MenuMachine palette.

If you are still having problems, please contact support.

*You can customise the name or location of the MenuMachine folder if necessary - page 51 of the MenuMachine user guide explains how to do this, although we recommend against doing so.
