Category: Menu Editing Issues

Issue

The characters in URLs such as the ampersand sign (&) or the %20 for a space is being encoded by GoLive so the code changes to %26 or %2520 which breaks URLs.

Solution

You need to change a setting for your site so that what you type is not changed by GoLive.

1. Open the site, bring the site window to the front and go to:

Site > Settings > URL handling

2. Turn OFF the setting called %HH Escaping

You will be asked to update the links in the site.

You can then check the URL in your menu. It should automatically change back to the &. If not, just enter it in again and save. Check the code too to make sure it is correct.

Note: This is a site-specific setting so it will not affect any other sites.

If you want this change to affect all sites then go to the GoLive preferences and turn off the %HH escaping option in the General > URL handling section.
