Issue

How to use multiple custom arrow sets and different arrows for different pages with MenuMachine 1.

Solution

MenuMachine 1 has no built-in support for custom arrows. MenuMachine 2 allows this and has an extensive library of different customizable arrow styles.

You can work around this issue in MenuMachine 1:

When you choose to show arrows for submenus, the menutriangle.gif files are also copied into the GeneratedItems folder from the master gif files in the MenuMachine folder in the GoLive folder.

If you copy your own arrow gifs into the master folder, ALL of your sites will have the new custom arrows.

If you want to limit your arrows to just the site you are working on, copy your custom arrows into the GeneratedItems folder in your site. When you do this, the custom arrows will not show in GoLive - only in a browser.

Keep a backup copy of your arrows as they may be overridden by MenuMachine. e.g if the dates of your custom arrows are OLDER than the date of the files in the master folder. In this case, you would put another copy of your custom arrows into the GeneratedItems folder.

If you want multiple arrows e.g. for different pages, you can change the links to point to a different set of arrows in source code.

so instead of the default: "GeneratedItems/menutriangledown.gif"

you might have "myarrows/mytriangledown.gif"

NOTE: Menumachine will change the links back if you modify the page and save. Remember to change the links in source and save in source.

OR: Close the page and change the links in the In and Out Links window.
