MenuMachine Manual

Use different formatting for top level & submenus

The Use different formatting for top level and submenus checkbox is found in the Format tab of the MenuMachine inspector.

Checking this box (or not checking it) will change how the other settings on the page are applied to your menu.

This option has three modes:

(All menus) By default, the box is not checked so top level menu items and submenus will all be affected by the settings chosen in the Format tab. The (hierarchical) level indicator will show all levels being yellow.

To enable different border, font, alignment settings etc. for the top level and submenus, check the box.

(Top level menus) After checking the box, you will immediately see that the pull-down list becomes active and that top level menu items are active (the yellow menu item indicator is highlighting the top level). Any changes in this state will affect only the top level menu items.

(Submenus) Use the pull-down list to make submenu items active (the yellow menu item indicator is highlighting the submenus). Any changes in this state will affect only the submenu items.

Note: When you are using the Format tab, don't forget to make sure you have the correct mode chosen by looking at this indicator.

The animation at left shows the mode selection being changed.

Important: If you have chosen different settings for top level and submenus, then you uncheck the Use different formatting for top level and submenus box, the settings mode you last had active (top level or submenus mode and the settings within that mode) will be applied to all levels of the menu.
