How do I know if the new version of MenuMachine is installed correctly?
If you have followed the installation instructions correctly, and removed the old version of MenuMachine, you should be presented with the Activation screen when you launch GoLive. You will be required to enter your MenuMachine serial number and name when prompted.
If you do not see the Activation screen, or if Activation is NOT successful, please review the instructions and check Troubleshooting & FAQs for your particular problem.
Once you are in GoLive and have a site open, if you click on a menu the Inspector changes to the MenuMachine Inspector. Look in the top-left corner of the inspector to see the new version number. It should be the same version number as listed on the download page.
How do I update my site to use the new MenuMachine version?
As with all upgrades, it is a good idea to make a backup of your site first.
Once you have confirmed that you have the new version of MenuMachine installed correctly, open an existing site.
Open a page in the site that contains a menu. If your menus are in Component or Template pages, you must open them directly not pages which use them.
Make slight change to the page (such as adding a space somewhere on the page but not in the menu, then deleting it again). Save the page and allow the updates to occur if it was a Template or Component page.
This will prompt MenuMachine to copy the new version of the menumachine.js file into your site from the master folder in your GoLive folder.
To confirm that the menumachine.js file has been updated in your site, open it in GoLive or a text editor. (It should be in the GeneratedItems folder which is at the root level of your site if you are using the default GoLive settings).
Look at the first line of text. It should have the same version number in the first line as listed on the download page.
Check the site in a browser locally to make sure all is working correctly.
Then you must re-upload the menumachine.js file to update the online version of your site. It is not necessary to re-upload pages. You are simply replacing the menumachine.js file that is currently online with the new version in your local site.
In a page containing a menu, the link to the menumachine.js file should be pointing to the GeneratedItems folder. If the link is pointing to your hard drive or begins with file:/// the link to the menumachine.js file is incorrect and pages won't work when uploaded.
Check this page for site problems before uploading if you are in doubt.
